Free Estate Planning Seminars

June 3, 2013 by Stephen Unsworth

Is the idea of estate planning overwhelming to you? Many of you have answered in the affirmative. It is outside of your comfort zone, having to think about your own death. Certainly it is not a popular topic and not a great icebreaker when meeting new people. But it is a very important topic to consider.

This can be a rather confusing process, perhaps even more so for those of you who have no prior experience with wills, trusts or any other aspect of estate planning. If you set no plans, the government has a process in place to distribute your property. Intestate distribution follows strict formulas and there are no provisions for the actual needs of your family.

On the financial side, the government makes no provision for any part of your estate to pass untaxed. Realistically, it is their job to collect every possible cent available tax-wise. Estate planning leaves you in control of your estate, not a bureaucrat.

You may be concerned with the costs of estate planning and rightfully so. You could have issue with how much time it can take to get basic information from a qualified estate planning attorney; again this is quite an understandable reaction.

We at Unsworth LaPlante, PLLC appreciate your interest and respect your time. We will be offering several relatively short, free seminars in the near future. We will be in Essex Junction on Thursday June 13th and Thursday June 20th and in St. Albans on Saturday June 15th. We ask that you pre-register so we may best accommodate you. Click on the following link for more information and to register: Free Vermont Estate Planning Seminars.
