Movie and film stars have to deal with estate planning issues just like the rest of us and that story were no different for actress Celeste Holm. Holm, who made a name for herself in her appearance in “Oklahoma,” spent the last few years of her life in severe financial difficulty and drawn out estate planning issues that took up the majority of her time.
Holms two sons were pitted against her latest husband over the inheritance and investments Holms had in her estate. The entire court battle and legal issue wiped out most of Holm’s accounts and left the actress to rely heavily on her Social Security income. Due to the lack of estate planning and constant legal battles, Holms estate does not have a funeral plan. The family is requesting donations be made through UNICEF and other local charities to help take care of the burial costs for this beloved actress.
Estate planning issues can arise even before death, which is why it is imperative that individuals have an estate plan created long before that happens. If you are in the Vermont area, you can attend a Will and Living Trust Seminar that will explain the basics of estate planning and help get you started on your own plan.
