Vermont’s veterans have honorably served our country since its inception. If you or your spouse is an honorably discharged veteran, you are entitled to certain benefits through the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs. Additionally, as a Vermont resident, you may receive certain benefits from the Vermont Office of Veterans Affairs.
You are probably aware that you may be able to receive care at VA hospitals, but care is not automatic. To determine what level of care you may be entitled to receive, it is recommended that you apply. To get an application or find out more contact Healthcare Eligibility – White River Junction VA Medical Center at (802) 295-9363 or toll free (866) 687-8387 X 6281. Even if you are denied, you can reapply. If your situation changes, or the eligibility guidelines change, you may become eligible in the future.
The Veterans administration can provide burial in a National Cemetery at no cost to you. They cannot make funeral arrangements on your behalf. If your spouse or another dependent were to die before you, they may be buried at the National Cemetary. For more information, call (800) 697-6947 or visit http://www.cem.va.gov/
If you are currently looking to buy a home, manufactured home or condo, the VA may be able to guarantee part of your loan. And if you have an existing mortgage, you may be able to refinance, thanks to The Veterans Benefit Improvement act of 2008. Check out Http://www.homeloans.va.gov/ or call (877) 827-3702.
