Aging happens to all of us. How we deal with it affects others as well as ourselves. Elder Law planning includes such topics as providing for heirs, protecting assets and property, and preparing for incapacity. Your choices, goals, and situations are unique.
Unsworth LaPlante, PLLC in Vermont understands these issues and enjoys working with seniors and their families. We are patient and professional. Please contact us if we can help you or your family.
Powers of Attorney Matter in Life
Two documents are very important for seniors: a durable power of attorney and a will. If you are incapacitated during your lifetime, a durable power of attorney will allow the trusted person you choose to step in and manage your financial affairs.
If you don’t appoint someone and ill health or an accident disrupts your life, the court will appoint a conservator or guardian. This takes time and money, and you may not like the person appointed.
Wills Matter when You Die
Your will directs how and where your property will go when you die. A will clarifies the administration of your estate, and can make that process much easier with proper advice beforehand.
Unsworth LaPlante, PLLC is happy to help you with Elder Law needs.
